听说课
Step 1 Warming-up
Good morning, everyone. Welcome back. How is everything going? Tom, you feel so happy today. Oh, you bought a new T-shirt. I love the color by the way. How about you, Amy? Not so good. Why? You have some difficulties in maths learning. Well, don’t worry. You can turn to Mr. Lee for help. As for me, I feel so excited today because I can share a new lesson with all ofyou guys.
Today, before the class. I have a question for you. Do you know some Chinese fables or Western myths? Let’s look at the screen. What are they? Have a guess. Who wants to share your answer? Nancy, you are always the first one to raise your hand. You have the right answer. It is called Pandora ,s Box. How about the second picture? Jack, the brave boy, please. Great! The Trojan Horse. You are so knowledgeable. Now let’s pay attention to the last one. I will enlarge it for you. What is the man doing? He is moving a mountain, right? I believe many of you have heard about the story. Now, in today’s lesson. Let’s continue to learn it—An old man tried to move the mountains.
Step 2 Pre-listening
Before listening part, you should know about the background information of the story. This tale first appeared in the book of Liezi,
a Daoist text written during the Warring States, and it was also used by Mao Zedong in his famous speech.
And now please open up your book. Turn to page 42. Can you find several pictures? Great! Try to guess the order and talk with your desk mates.
Step 3 While-listening
OK! Please listen for the first time. This time, please number the pictures in the right order and check your predictions. Later, I will invite one student to share the answer and write the outline on the blackboard. Let’s start. The tape is over. Who would like to write down the right order? Yes! Lily, please come up to the stage. Good handwriting. Go back to your seat, please. Now let’s check together. It is 2-1-3-4. Do you agree? Brilliant! You all got the right one.
Next, let’s listen again for more details. This time, please circle the words you hear in activity 2b. You can pay attention to the keywords in each sentence. Later, let’s check together. Stop here. I will pick up a line to tell me the answers. Let’s see. Line two, please. Start from Jennie. Okay! Family, weak, talking. You really catch the point. Continue. Two gods and never know for the rest sentences. You all did a good job. Applaud for all ofyou guys!
And let’s focus on some expressions together. The word “unless” can show the condition of certain things. “So...that...” structure enables us to tell the results. And the collocation “as soon as” can emphasize the time of events. Clear?
For the last time listening. Please repeat after the tape. Try to
imitate the pronunciation and intonation. Meanwhile, pay attention to the conjunctions we talked about just now. Well done!
Step 4 Post-listening
Okay, here are two tasks. Please retell the story according to the order of the four pictures in 2a and the key information on the blackboard. 1 minute for you to make preparation. Ready? Start! The time is up. Any volunteer? Mary, please. Wow, you mentioned so many details such as their opinions and the helps from the gods. Nice summarizing skill.
You enjoy it, right? This time, you need to make a role-play in groups of three according to the content in 2c, and you can replac some information in the dialogue with your views. Meanwhile, please pay attention to the sentence patterns “What do you think about the story of Yu Gong?”, “I think...”, “I still don’t agree with you.” 4 minutes later, I will invite some groups to share your performance in class. Now, 1,2,3, go! Have you finished? Which group wants to try? Oh, we have the first group. Kate, Nate, and Peter, please. It is your stage now. Excellent! Such a vivid performance. You three did make great progress these days. Boys and girls, let’s give them some applause, OK? Thanks for sharing.
Step 5 Summary & Homework
It is nearly the end of the class. So we come to the summary time as usual. Who would like to help me? Jackson, you are so active, please. You made a good summary. Please have a seat. We learned a story about Yu Gong. And I hope you can learn from his quality and spirit.
Next lesson, all of you are supposed to share your favorite fables from home or abroad. So this is your today’s task as homework. Listen? The bell is ringing. Class dismissed. See you next time.
